Perhaps it includes a casual lakeside dinner on the deck, paddling across Blue Lake at sunset with Mount Hood glowing in the distance, sipping a gourmet root beer float and visiting two mischievous pygmy goats named Blueberry and Muffin.
Hosted at the lakeside home of ESN Executive Director Amy Higgs and her husband Steve, this relaxed gathering offers a chance to slow down, connect with good people, paddle at sunset, and enjoy the beauty of a Pacific Northwest summer evening. Find Your Edge: A Climbing Adventure – June 28 & July 5
Most people spend their lives avoiding the feeling of being scared. This experience is about discovering what happens when you lean toward it instead. This two-part climbing adventure is for curious humans ready to challenge themselves.
Part one takes place at a Portland climbing gym, where climbing enthusiast and ESN board member Evans Reed introduces guests to the fundamentals in a supportive, beginner-friendly environment. Afterward, guests are invited to continue the adventure over happy hour while talking through plans for the big climb ahead.
Then comes the real adventure: A week later, the group will head to French’s Dome near Rhododendron, Oregon—a striking 160-foot monolith rising from the forest. Guests will climb a beginner-friendly bolted route in several shorter pitches, with opportunities to rest and regroup.
At the summit, we’ll celebrate before rappelling back down—including a thrilling overhang that may leave you questioning your life choices in the best possible way.
For ages 13+ in moderately good physical shape.

Simple Steps to Care for the People and Causes You Love
Growing a Legacy – Sept 8, 2026 on Zoom
Most of us know we should have a will, review our beneficiaries, or think about the legacy we’d like to leave—but somehow it stays on the “someday” list.
Join us for a warm and inspiring evening exploring what it means to leave a legacy. Together, we’ll reflect on the people who shaped us, the values we hope to pass on, and the impact we want to have on future generations. We’ll also learn practical ways to put those intentions into action through wills, trusts, beneficiary designations, IRA charitable rollovers, and other planning tools.
Featuring Steve Higgs, Executive Director of SAGE, and Lindsay Kearl, Estate Planning Attorney at Legacy Preservation Law.
Attendees will receive a special package delivered to their home before the event with thoughtful surprises, reflection materials, and treats to enjoy during our gathering.
Whether you’re creating your first plan, updating documents you haven’t reviewed in years, or refining a legacy you’ve already begun to build, this is a chance to take a meaningful next step—while reflecting on what matters most.
Free and open to all. Registration required.
