Eat. Think. Grow is a garden curriculum Linda created based on Oregon educational standards to help teachers to more easily integrate the gardens on their school sites into their educational goals. In Portland Public Schools, the wellness policy adopted in 2006 by the school board states that students should receive knowledge about their food. Knowledge should include how it’s grown, who grows it, how it’s prepared, its connection to the cultural traditions, and its influence on shaping society. The policy also mentions that one nutrition education goal is for every school to have a garden. This provides an obvious niche for integration of school gardens into a student’s education.
