The Eco-School Network School Supplies Committee is focusing on right-sizing school supplies, encouraging reuse, and limiting waste. To assess the extent of the problem, the committee developed a survey that was sent to parents and teachers throughout the district. The survey showed that in at least one-third of schools responding, there were reusable supplies left over, and there was space in the school to store them. In January 2016, the committee is currently seeking a grant to start a pilot project in two schools to walk them through a process of assessing and addressing the issue.
